FAQS AND CARE INFORMATION

Q: Can I wash and dry my item?

  • A: YES. Handwoven cotton, bamboo, linen.
    YES. Printed cotton linen.
NO: Wool, cashmere. Dry cleaning recommended.

  • All pieces have been pre-washed and pre-shrunk. Care instructions for various materials and products listed below. Feel free to contact me with any specific cleaning concerns.

  • DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH UNLESS YOUR PIECE IS SOLID WHITE (what I call coconut).

  • PRE-TREAT STAINS WITH A LAUNDRY PRE-WASH TREATMENT WHEN NEEDED.
I have used the following with excellent results and no discoloration: Oxi Clean Laundry Treatment, Shout, and Spray ‘n Wash. I also find that Dawn dish washing liquid works well as well for removing grease and though stains. Follow instructions on your desired product.

  • HANDWOVEN Cotton, linen, bamboo - hand towels, pillow covers, zipper pouches, rugs, mats…
Machine wash cold. NON CHLORINE BLEACH if needed (like Clorox 2). Tumble dry medium. Steam iron on cotton setting if desired.
Pre-treat stains with a laundry pre-wash treatment when needed.

  • PRINTED cotton/linen - hand towels, pillow covers, zipper pouches, mats etc…
Machine wash cold. NON CHLORINE BLEACH if needed (like Clorox 2). Tumble dry medium. Steam iron on cotton setting if desired.
Pre-treat stains with a laundry pre-wash treatment when needed.

  • WOOL RUGS & PILLOW COVERS:
Vacuum rugs lightly or tumble dry rugs and pillow covers on air/no heat to remove lint, dirt, pet hair or for a freshen up. Spot clean with mild detergent and cold water when needed. Blot, never rub. Hang or lay flat to dry. Tumble drying wet wool will cause it to "full" and "felt" resulting in the item loosing definition and texture. To iron, cover with light cloth and steam iron on wool setting if desired.

Treating stains caused by liquid, act quickly to prevent from drying – use a clean, damp cloth to absorb.
If mud or dirt gets on your rug, allow dirt to dry, then brush off with stiff laundry brush. If needed, treat any residual stain with mild detergent and cold water. Blot, never rub.
When in doubt, professional cleaning is recommended.

Q: My piece seems to have shrunk after washing and drying. Is this normal?

  • A: YES
While all items are pre-washed and pre-shrunk, items will appear to shrink after washing. Just as your favorite pair of jeans when they fit like a glove after washing. When you put them on, the fibers will loosen as you wear them, making them loose. As a result, you wash them to get them back to size. Same thing happens with handwoven textiles. Ironing with steam after tumble drying will actually smooth the pieces out again, bringing them back to "original size".

PILLOW CARE:
Feathers may from time to time poke through pillow cover.

Q: Can I wash and tumble dry my pillow covers?

  • A: YES
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Air or tumble dry. Steam iron on lowest setting.

Q: Can I wash and tumble dry my feather pillow inserts?

  • A: YES
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle. Air or tumble dry.

Q: Can I wash and tumble dry my zipper pouch?

  • A: Yes.
All pouches have been pre-washed and shrunk.
Machine wash cold. NON CHLORINE BLEACH if needed (like Clorox 2).
Tumble dry medium. Steam iron on cotton setting if desired.
Pre-treat stains with a laundry pre-wash treatment when needed.
Tassels will fluff or “full” over time. To refresh tassels, comb through with a fork. (See below photos)

Q: After washing my piece, it is rather winkled. Is this normal?

  • A: YES
Especially on small pieces such as hand towels if tumbled dried on their own. Your wrinkled hand towels will become less wrinkled as you use them and should wrinkle less over time. If desired, a quick pass with a steam iron or hand held steamer will have your pieces looking crisp. The wrinkles make the pieces no less absorbent or usable. See before and after ironing images below. The before are fresh out of the dryer.

Q: There are small white dots on my printed cotton/linen hand towels. Is this normal?

  • A: Yes.
Slight irregularities and variations in the colors and textures of this item are characteristic of the digital printing process.
In some cases, small white specks are present where the ink printed over the small characteristic slubs in the weave, leaving a small white spot.
    See photos below.

Q: Small pieces of yarn are poking out along or near the edge of my item. Is this normal?

  • A: Yes.
These small pieces are where there was a color change in the yarn. You can either weave them back in with a crochet hook, yarn needle or simply cut them off.
In most cases there is at least an inch of yarn woven in at any point a yarn change occurs and cutting off the small segment will not cause your item to unravel..
With use and washing, overtime the yarns should stop poking out.
    See photos below.

Q: My fringe or tassels have gotten rather fluffy. Is this normal?

  • A: YES. This applies to to anything with fringe… towels, pillows, necklaces, zipper pouches, etc.|
Especially on fringe or tassels that are not twisted.
Tassels will fluff or “full” over time with use, wear, and washing.
To refresh tassels, comb through with a fork or wide toothed comb. Steam may be required.

    See photos below.

Q. How to I keep tassels and necklace cords looking crisp?

  • Steam iron cord or tassel on lowest setting.
To refresh tassels, comb through with a fork or wide toothed comb. Steam may be required.
    See photos below.
